Aquarium Snails
Algae Eating Snails

THESE CAN BE EASILY ADDED TO YOUR PLANT ORDER!

These snails are generally small and used for algae eating.  They will delicately pick algae off of your plants and glass.  Generally, the following snails are used in aquariums of all sizes, betta bowls, and even ponds.

Algae Eating Olive Nerite Snail

a.k.a. Olive Nerites, Olive Snails
Neritina reclivata

TEMP: 50 - 100   pH: 6.2 - 8.5

One of the Best Algae Eating Snails you will ever Own!

THEY WILL NOT REPRODUCE IN FRESHWATER!

THEY WILL NOT EAT YOUR PLANTS

These little fellas are actually about the size of a dime or a marble, and have neat little barnacles growing on the shells.  Probably about the best algae eating snail for aquariums in the world, as they DO NOT reproduce in freshwater, but only in brackish or saltwater.  YES, we have them here at the nursery in our FRESHWATER pools so you need not worry about any acclimation process unless you want them BACK in Saltwater.  They may lay "pretzel- salt-looking" eggs, but they won't hatch unless the eggs are laid in, at least, brackish water at an optimum temp.  Great for keeping GLASS, & PLANT LEAVES clean!  NO, They won't eat your plants either.  What else could you want in a snail?

STOCKING INFO: use 1 per gallon or more.  Not easy to breed, as they are actually a brackish water snail (brackish water is where they are prolific).  Excellent algae eating snail for freshwater aquariums and also Marine as well!    Will NOT harm plant life.

Japanese Trap Door Snail

a.k.a. Algae Eating Periwinkle Snail

Viviparis malleatus

TEMP: 64 - 89   pH: 6.2 - 8.3

These are about the size of a half-dollar

Great for Freshwater Aquariums or Ponds.  They do well in cold or warm water.  These are live bearing snails, not egg layers! NOT GENERALLY EASY TO FIND IN THE U.S.

STOCKING INFO: for aquariums use 1 to 2 snails per 10 gallons. For ponds use 2 foot of sur

Substrate Burrowers

THESE CAN BE ADDED TO YOUR PLANT ORDER!

These fellas won't harm your plants, and they'll help keep your soil aerated, kinda like havin' an earthworm in your garden except in your aquarium......Try em, they're really beneficial

Golden Clams

a.k.a. Freshwater Asian Clams

(Corbicula fluminea)

Native to: Tropical South Asia, Africa, and Austrailia

Larger than a nickel, smaller than a silver dollar, and usually about the size of a Quarter. You do not need to feed them, they are filter feeders, and they will feed off micro-organisms and waste in your aquarium! When you first get them, acclimate them as you would any other new fish, drop them in your aquarium, and gently push them just a touch into your substrate. They prefer to bury themselves in "small" gravel or sand substrates, so no larger- sized rock substrates. They will move around on their own, and will NOT disturb your plants or their roots.

STOCKING INFO: for aquariums use 1 snail per 6 square inches of substrate space. For Ponds use up to 1 per gallon.
