Family Cyprinidae: Minnows or Carps+
Avg. size 2”

This fish is a very peaceful, harmless omnivore and ideal for ponds and aquariums.
They eat many types of algae, bloodworms and larvae. Great for ponds as they will eat mosquito & other flying pest’s larvae and bugs that may land on the water’s surface. Can be kept in Freshwater or in Brackish waters. These fish are typically egg guarders. Males will generally make a nest for the eggs and may guard the nest but typically not. Eggs will hatch within 2 ot 3 days when kept at 72 degrees or more. The eggs develop larvae and minute tubercles on the skin surface. The eggs will begin to hatch approximately 68 hours after insemination, and the larvae reach the free-swimming stage 23 days after hatching at water temperature of 71.6 degrees. This fish should not to be confused or compared with other bitterlings, such as the European bitterling as the Taiwan bitterling is in a Genus & species by itself.
