The Cuban Cichlid, also known as Nandopsis tetracanthus, is similar to the Flowerhorn because of its very high, large body. Although this is not a common fish to own, they are easy for those keeping similar sized South American or North American cichlids to maintain.
These fish are native to Cuba and feature black edging while the sections of white have the ability to become purple and violet if the fish is very healthy. While having the ability to grow up to 10”, it maintains a carnivore diet, needs a 78°F temperature, and a pH of 7.5.
