The Orange Zebra oto has a general body-shape like other Otocinclus species. They are small, have a suckermouth, and have armor on their bodies. The zebra oto has the highest number of teeth of any species of Otocinclus. The zebra oto reaches about 4.4 cm (1.7 in) but 1.2 to 1.6″ normally but the males are smaller. Hypoptopoma are small loricariids with a stocky body with a wide, flattened, head with the eyes on the side of the head and a concave profile, with a normal tail.
Like other Nannoptopoma this fish is amazing at eating large amounts of algae as they have a high metabolic rate. This algae eater is assumed to live among shoreside vegetation and wood in nature the Orange Zebra Oto will do great in smaller tanks, as well as larger tnaks in larger colonies of other Otos.
