Algae Eating Rosy Bitterling (Rhodeus ocellatus) is a peaceful, cooler-water shoaling fish that grows up to 2.5 inches and requires a well-filtered aquarium with temperatures between 64°F and 75°F.
Heating is usually not needed, and high tropical heat is harmful.

Dense planting, hiding spots with rocks or wood, and open swimming space.
THis is a Shoaling fish; keep in groups of 5 to 6 or more to prevent stress.
Compatibility: Peaceful community fish; pair with small, non-aggressive species like Danios, small Barbs, White Cloud Mountain Minnows, or Corydoras. Avoid large or aggressive fish.

Breeding Note: Mussel Spawning: They require live freshwater mussels to breed. Females lay eggs inside the gills of the mussel. This is complex and best left to experienced hobbyists due to the specialized needs of the mussels.
