The Black Molly is a hardy, easy to care for, live-bearing fish native to North America’s coastal and brackish waters. They are popular in aquariums as well as water gardens outdoors, and mostly eating algae and aquatic insects. Black molly (often a hybrid largely bred from Poecilia sphenops or crossed with short-finned Poecilia latipinna variations) is a hardy, peaceful, and active livebearer. They thrive in hard, alkaline water with moderate to high hardness, require a temperature range of 68–82°F, and prefer a pinch of aquarium salt in their tank.
