The Golden Algae Eater, or Gyrinocheilus aymonieri is a wonderful algae eating freshwater fish native to Southeast Asia. The Golden Algae Eater fish we sell grow up to 4 inches max in a large tank and smaller in others. We ship them at about 1.5 inches at time of shipment. These fish are excellent cleaners of algae from tank glass & wood.
In addition to eating algae from glass, they will consume algae found on driftwood, rocks and plants. You only need 1 Golden Algae Eater per 20 gallons of water. Not all fish are suitable tank mates with the Golden Algae Eater. It is best not to place this fish with Angel or Discus fish.
