Mono Sebae or African Moony
Monodactylus sebae
The Mono Sebae or African Moony is a beautiful diamond-shaped fish that originated in Coastal West Africa. Once the fish has grown and matured, it should be transferred from freshwater to brackish water and then saltwater for the health and longevity of this fish.
You can add more marine salt to your tank as the fish matures to recreate the natural habitat. A substrate of aragonite sand or gravel is best. Plants and rocks that thrive best in brackish water should be situated within the tank. For nutrition, provide plenty of dried seaweed, lettuce, spinach, brine shrimp and quality fish food.
