Boeseman’s rainbowfish (Melanotaenia boesemani), also known as Boesemani rainbowfish is a species of fish in the family Melanotaeniidae is a peaceful, active fish. We ship these around 2″ size.
Adequate cover in the form of tall plants and other structures is important, but open swimming areas should be provided. These are fast swimmers so in schools these fish are ideal to keep with larger aggressive fish like cichlids or angelfish.
Rainbowfish are a hardy & easy to care for. Rainbowfish males of most species have a bright iridescent stripe that runs from the top of their mouth up over the ridge of the back and continues to the dorsal fin. Males frequently flash this bright stripe on&off in a lovely display like a neon sign.
