The Sailfin Pleco is a species of armored catfish native to Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela where it is found in the Orinoco & Amazon basins. Adult Sailfins will easily attain a length of 50 centimeters (19.7 in) TL and can live for more than 20 years.
The Larger sized Sailfin Pleco is an inexpensive and incredibly easy omnivore ideal for tanks 20 gallons or larger. They start out around 3 – 4” and grow bigger in time. You’ll have your tanks naturally cleaned by these fish, as they will scrape off old algae, as well as clean driftwood and the bottom of the tank. These fish are good companions for more aggressive fish, as they are not likely to bother with each other.
