Native to South America, the Mother of Pearl Cichlid (Geophagus brasiliensis) is a freshwater tropical species baring vibrant colorings. These fish may be any color from a light brown body tone to a royal blue or series of purples, and they change color depending on their disposition.
Male Mother of Pearl Cichlids can grow to be over 12 inches long, whereas females are slightly smaller in size. These fish make for an excellent addition to any larger aquarium setting, but be aware these fish may show aggressive behavior among other fish since they’ve grown to be 4 or more inches in length.
