Aponogeton Boivinanus “Hammer-Leaf” Plant
Also known as the “Hammer Leaf”, the Boivinanus is a beautiful plant that is native to Sri Lanka, Madagascar and Indo-China. Most often, it grows to be an appealing light brown color. It is also a bit hairy and has fibrous rhizomes.
This plant is great for growers of all experience levels, as it is relatively easy to cultivate and it’s affordable for nearly any budget. Very low to moderate lighting is needed to grow this plant and the temperature should be medium, between 73-83F. Also, it should be a neutral pH.
The young or new leaves generally start with pinkish leaves, as they mature they turn a sleek green color, and they tend to sway at the top, providing a unique look to tanks. The Hammer Leaf Aquarium Plant is often sold as bulbs because they’re easy to grow. Regardless of how you purchase it, you’ll be glad you did when you add it to your tank!
