Cyrtocara moorii
Looking for a low-maintenance fish? Then you’ve come to the right place! The Blue Dolphin Cichlid is very easy to care for. It does well with most other African Cichlids, as long as it has a spacious, rocky tank to live in. Plants are also beneficial to have, as they provide refuge, offer shelter, and are helpful in removing waste.

If you’re interested in breeding your fish, a small gathering of five to seven females and one male will provide the best opportunities for breeding. These fish breed readily and easily. The mother carries the eggs in her mouth for twelve to eighteen days, but once released, the fry find refuge in plants and don’t return to their mothers.

These nine inch carnivores prefer a diet rich in meaty foods. Cichlid pellets and freeze-dried foods, such as bloodworms, tubifex, and brine shrimp provide the proper nutrition.

Other tips for caring for Blue Dolphin Cichlids include:

  • pH: 7.8-8.6
  • KH: 10-15°
  • Temp: 76-82° F
