Bagrichthys macracanthus, commonly known as the Black Lancer Catfish, is a species of catfish native to Southeast Asia, known for its distinctive appearance and nocturnal habits.
Here’s a more detailed look:

Distribution: It is found in countries like Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Aquarium Care:
Water Parameters: Prefers soft, acidic water with a pH of 5.5-7.0 and a dH of up to 15 degrees.
Temperature: Ideal temperature range is 24-28°C (75-82°F).
Diet: A carnivorous fish that will accept most dry, frozen, and live meaty foods.
Social Behavior: Peaceful, but can be territorial with other bottom dwellers.
Tank Size: Requires a sizeable aquarium, as they are timid fish and can be easily stressed.
Compatibility: Does well with smaller, peaceful fish, such as shoals of barbs and rasboras.
Other Considerations: Needs a suitably sized pipe or cave for shelter and should be protected from heater burns.
Sexual Dimorphism: Males have longer barbels and a genital papilla, while females tend to be fuller-bodied.
Size: Can grow up to 30cm (11.8 inches) in length.
Synonym: Bagroides macracanthus.
