Neon Diamond Head Tetra
Temp: 68-74° F
Max. Size: 2½”
This is not a common fish, and not likely to ever see in your local petstore! The Diamond Head Neon Tetra comes from clear waters of South America. The Diamond Head variety of Paracheirodon innesi was developed through selective breeding. This very peaceful variety of Neon has a metallic “diamond” patch on its back, between the eyes and dorsal fin. This variety of neon can be identified by a faint blue smudge or stripe, offset by red that runs horizontally down the side of its body.
These are mid-level swimming fish, so offering taller plants like Val grasses and swords along w some bunched plants will be best for proper habitat. Although Neons prefer a slightly acidic pH such as 6.9 or less, they are raised at our farm in higher pH, but a regulated temp of between 77 and 85 is more of a need.
The Diamond Head Neon Tetra isn’t a finicky eater and will accept most small foods such as brine shrimp or daphnia, freeze-dried bloodworms, micro pellet foods and high quality flake foods.
