Description
The beautiful Fire eel Mastacembelus erythrotaenia is a relatively large species of spiny eel. This omnivorous freshwater fish is native to in Southeast Asia. Although it has declined locally (especially in Thailand) because of trade and overfishing for food, it remains a common Eel overall.
Eels primarily Inhabit estuaries (the tidal mouth of rivers flowing into the ocean). Eels will do well in a slightly brackish aquarium and in a fully freshwater environment as well.
Having a colony of these Eels is awesome to watch at nighttime when they are moving against the front area of your aquarium searching for any debris or micro organisms to eat. This aquatic Eel is an awesome find. shipped avg about 4 to 6″
