Cylindropuntia bigelovii is native to Northwestern Mexico, and to the United States in California, Arizona, and Nevada. This Cholla is often collected for silvery-white spines that give a glowing appearance from a distance. The Teddy Bear Cholla will bloom greenish yellow flowers followed by a fruit from March to June and again in September. It can grow up to 5 feet tall or more and they are cold hardy to 5 degrees F.
