Natural to the Tennessee River, the Blue Channel Catfish (Ictalurus furcatus) typically averages around 10 pounds in weight and 18-24 inches in length in lakes in the wild and far smaller in private ponds. There have been much larger caught, including a record setting 120 pound Blue Channel Catfish caught in Holts Reservoir. The delicious flavor and abundance make the Blue Channel a popular choice for fishing.
