Catfish – Dwarf African Bumblebee Catfish

THESE ARE TINY CATS! Sometimes called Squeakers but usually know as upside-down catfish, these are a fish family occurring exclusively in Africa. The genus Synodontis has over 130 species! Closely related to that genus is this genus here: Microsynodontis. The genus name means “small Synodontis” and is a good fit because these fish already become sexually mature at 1.5″! This is a true dwarf fish!

Dwarf African Bumblebee Catfish

Microsynodontis batesii
Native to: Africa, Mvile River, southern Cameroon.

pH: 6.4 – 7.0
Temp: 75.2-80.6°F We have done well with this fish in hard water (pH 7.9+)
Feeding: Will eat a wide variety of prepared freeze-dried and frozen foods.
Decor: Provide plenty of driftwood and rocks as hiding places.
This is a good catfish for the community/African tank and is good to put with schools or many small to mid-sized community fish. Ideal tankmates include other Synodontis, congo tetras (Phenacogrammus interruptus) or African barbs such as Barbus callipterus.
