Green Kissing Gourami Fish
The Green Kissing Gourami Fish, also known as the Helostoma temmincki, is true to it’s name thanks to its thick lips that extend to resemble pursed lips. This silver and green fish is generally a peaceful fish, but males will occasionally fight by pressing their lips together until the weaker fish backs down. Like similar Labyrinth fish, these are surface breathers and will need access to the top of the aquarium to breathe.
The best living arrangement for these fish is in a 30 gallon or larger tank that contains live plants, rocks and driftwood for hiding places. It may be best to use artificial plants, as these fish will eat most of the live vegetation in the tank. There is no need to clean the back of the aquarium because the Kissing Gourami will browse on the algae that is growing there. Tank mates should be of similar size and temperament. These fish will be shipped from sizes between 1.5” – 2.5”, but can grow up to 5”. They are also omnivores and will thrive on algae as well as meaty foods such as flying bugs, larvae, in your pond or supplement feed bloodworms if in an aquarium.
The Green Kissing Gourami is an omnivore and requires both algae-based foods as well as meaty foods. An algae-based flake food, along with freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex and brine shrimp will provide these fish with the proper nutrition.
Minimum purchase amount is 2 fish, but we recommend buying more. At the time of shipment, the fish will be about 2” or more.
