Description
Broadleaf Ludwigia
Ludwigia repens
aka: Water Primrose Creeper
Native to North and Central American tropical waters, this Ludwigia, also known as the Water primrose Creeper, is an amphibious plant that will grow partially or fully submerged. A vibrant plant, with color ranging from dark green to brownish-red, the Water Primrose makes a good mid-ground plant in a bigger aquarium and a great background plant in smaller aquariums. Requiring high lighting to bring out the colors, the Water Primrose is a fast-growing plant and easy to maintain. Fairly hard to kill, but this plant will do best when pruned regularly as this encourages more growth.
Use in your Pond or Aquarium both applications totally fine! In your pond, most folks typically just toss in the “bunches” of oxygenators/creeper plants and allow them to sink, as the plants you get from us will typically have lead weights on the bse of the plant when you get them. You can bend off the weight and use a pair of sharp scissors to trim off the base of the plant just an inch or so, (kind of like what you do to fresh cut flowers from the florist before you put them in a vase) then re-wrap the weight back around the base of your plant bunch and toss it in your pond shoreline area. If the plant sticks out of the water a couple inches thats fine, if the plant us submerged underwater thats also fine, but do not drop in water more than about 20″ deep. This plant will grow what’s called submerged and emerged leaves.
