Please do not worry if the snails are buttoned up tight tin their shells, they are trapdoor snails and will close themselves up tight for protection for long periods of time if needed. It is extremely rare that these snails would die in transit so please read the following: Snails are only considered Dead if their slug is hanging out of the shell or the shell is empty.
