The Cherry Hedge (Alternanthera ficoidea) is winter hardy to USDA Zone 10 and is grown primarily for its colorful foliage. This plant grows to be an incredible cherry red color as suggested by the name and looks great in any habitat. Grow in organically rich, consistently moist, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade for the best growth and longest life. Best foliage colors are usually developed in full sun, however some bleaching of colors may occur in full sun in hot summer climates. It may also be grown indoors as a houseplant as long as it is sited in a bright, sunny location and soils are kept moist.
