Description

Cambarellus patzcuarensis is a very rare dwarf species of crayfish in the family Cambaridae. The Dwarf Mexican Crayfish has a body measuring just 4–5 centimetres (1.6–2.0 in), including claws. This is a verry sought ater crayfish used in the aquarium hobby. Most specimens found in the wild are brown or sometimes with a gray or blue tint, however, Cambarellus patzcuarensis var. “Orange” crayfish or sometimes referred to as Mexican dwarf orange crayfish is an orange-colored mutation rarely found in the wild. The Dwarf Mexican Crayfish species is native to Lake Pátzcuaro in Michoacán, Mexico. This small crayfish is great for scavenging, algae eating, and lots of entertainment. It can be easily bred in the homeaquarium if you have a group or colony of these crayfish housed together.
