This fish is a characin related to both tetras and the piranha! The Red Tail Barracuda is a threatening looking fish with a long, slender silver body with a bright tail. It is known for its large large sharp teeth that are easily seen.
A larger aquarium that is well established with plants is ideal for this species of Barracuda. Offer driftwood in order to maintain a neutral to slightly acidic pH and softer water as well as plenty of open swimming areas.
This is a vicious predator should only be housed with other more aggressive predacious fish of similar size. The Barracuda is a carnivore and should be fed a variety of live foods such as small fish and crustaceans! Shipped usually about 3″ or more depending on season.
