Arizona aquatic gardens is the original pioneer of the aquatic industry. Cryptocorynes will usually grow best in tanks with low light. Large amounts of light encourage algae to grow. They grow slow and steady. Crypts don’t like being moved often. Transplanting them stops their growth for a bit. Potted crypts usually take tank moves much better.
Enemies of this plant include; Hatchetfish, silver dollars and most large plecos. Please try to use frequent small amounts of fertilizer rather than occasional big dosings.
Requirements. Cryptocorynes (and most rooted plants) root best in a smaller substrate about the size of a BB. Gravel type vacuum cleaners will quite often disturb them.
Reproduction. Not many people will go to the effort to harvest crypt seeds. You need to gradually lower the water level until the tiny blooms appear and get fertilized. Nearly everyone grows new crypts through their rhizomes.
Crypt wilt. Crypts do not like floating in a tank unplanted. Sometimes just moving them to another tank with different lighting and water conditions will make their leaves wither and almost disintegrate. Plant the root base and try to be as patient as possible. Over time, crypts will usually tend to re-grow.
Minimum quantity for “Cryptocoryne Albida” is 10.
