Description
Hybrid Red-Tailed Leopard Tiger Shovelnose Cross
Phractocephalus hemioliopterus
The Red-Tailed Leopard Tiger Shovelnose Catfish Cross is a hybrid Catfish that grows to a large size and is thought to naturally occur in the wild in rivers in South America. It is a cross between a regular Tiger Shovelnose and a Red-Tailed Catfish. This fairly new species is becoming popular with many collectors, hobbyists and zoos everywhere. It has only recently been made available to the aquarium industry and farms like ours are now able to offer these awesome hybrids more readily as the population of successful fry is raised.
This fish should not to be trusted with smaller community fish, as they will eat anything that it can fit into their mouth. Take care when handling larger species due to their spines.
