Description
The Taro Plant is a bulb plant that produces a large unusual purple black leaf. The leaf is shaped like an elephant ear and the “Black Magic” Taro (Colocasia esculenta) is also commonly known as the Elephant Ear due to this characteristic.
The Taro Plant needs moisture rich environments. This makes it a good addition to bog and pond water gardens. The plant can grow to as high as feet and is an edible species. The tubers, when cooked, can be a food source for some cultures in which the species is common.
