The Youkihi Medaka Rice Fish is a peaceful, schooling/shoaling fish in a rare brilliant orange color form of the Japanese Rice Fish which is one of the hardiest and most adaptable fish in the world!

The Youkihi Medaka Rice Fish typically occupies the middle and top level of the water column. It is safe with other peaceful, small fish. Due to its small size, it is similar to microrasboras and great for small tanks. Excellent compatibility with dwarf shrimp. invertebrates, etc. When keeping the Youkihi Medaka Rice Fish with dwarf shrimp, plenty of plants for habitat recommended. The Youkihi Medaka Rice Fish must be kept in schools of at least 6 or more. Not only will it display its best natural behavior and coloration in large schools, but it will also pay little attention to other species. You need to have girls and boys to make a colony and keep everyone happy. Not pairs. This tank-raised fish is very hardy and adaptable, requiring clean, well-maintained water to thrive. It will display optimal coloration and best overall health when installed in a heavily planted aquarium, especially where floating plants are present such as Tiger Lotus, Frogbit, Water Sprite, Cabomba & Hornwort. As long as it has plenty of cover, it is an extremely outgoing species. It is very easy to breed in the aquarium.

The Youkihi Medaka Rice Fish will thrive and remain very colorful on a varied diet of mostly omnivorous foods. High-quality flake food, pellets, New Life Spectrum Ultra Red and live or freeze-dried Artemia, microworms, Tubifex, and finely chopped bloodworms will all be readily accepted.
