Description
Herichthys cyanoguttatus, Rio Grand Perch
The Green Texas Cichlid are known to be one of the toughest Cichlids. They are native to Rio Grande, Texas and Northern Mexico. They are pearly-green in color and have an omnivore diet, which includes, prepared/frozen foods of freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, ocean plankton, flake foods, and Cichlid pellets. They should be placed in a tank of at least 50 gallons with plenty of room to swim.
Since they tend to dig, plants that are added will be uprooted and rearranged. Therefore, floating plants are more ideal. They are very easy to breed and friendly to their owner. Green Texas Cichlid’s are known for their aggressive nature and should only be put with similar sized fish that are more aggressive than them. Males can grow up to 12” long. For more distinct coloration we recommend using NLA Ultra Red Food.
