Description
Louisiana iris ‘Dixie Deb’
The Louisiana iris ‘Dixie Deb’ bears vibrant sulfur-yellow flowers in early to mid-spring. Its flattish blooms have three up-angled inner segments (“standards”) and three larger, arching outer segments (“falls”). The base of each fall has a darker yellow midline (“signal”), which attracts pollinating bees. Three small, petal-like style arms adorn the flower’s center. This cultivar received the DeBaillon Award from the Society for Louisiana Irises. Louisiana irises are complex hybrids of several species, most native to the Gulf Coast region of the United States.
